About
Daniel Rubinstein is a critical theorist, writer and photographic artist whose research spans the trans-disciplinary fields of photography, Media Art, contemporary philosophy and communication technology. Underpinned by multifaceted engagement with photography, his work examines the digital image within the context of networked and mediated urban environments. He is the editor of the journal refereed journal "Philosophy of Photography" published by Intellect.
Currently programme leader for photography at London South Bank University, Daniel Rubinstein is head of the BA and MA Photography. He teaches post-graduate and under-graduate courses in photographic art, new media culture, history and theory of photography and critical theory.
Research interests: Media Arts, Post-representational Photography, Visual Art, Critical Theories of Networked Cultures, Contemporary Aesthetic Theory and practice, Translations of reality into zeros and ones.
Publications include:
Life More Photographic; Mapping the Networked Image, Towards Photographic Education, Digitally Yours; the Body in Contemporary Photography, On Tagging.
Has produced several editions of the international journal "Philosophy of Photography".
Exhibitions of photographic works and performances in the UK and abroad, including: Stephen Laurence Gallery, Greenwich. Gallery 11 Cologne, Germany. Beit-Ha'aomanim, Jerusalem, Israel, Showroom Gallery, London.
